Turkish rose and saffron open Ardent on a warm, slightly bitter note, before rose absolute, beeswax and jasmine thicken the heart into something closer to melted wax than cut flower. Oud, patchouli and labdanum settle it into a dark, resinous base — less a bouquet than a rose left too long near a candle.

THREE MOMENTS, ONE EVOLVING SCENT
Turkish rose leads immediately, backed by saffron's dry, faintly metallic spice. Coriander and carrot seed add a green, slightly earthy bitterness underneath — there's no citrus here to soften it, just rose that already feels warmer and heavier than a typical opening.
Rose absolute deepens the opening's rose rather than repeating it, while beeswax adds a genuinely waxy, honeyed texture that's unusual to find this prominent. Jasmine and hedione keep it from turning heavy too fast, but the overall impression is dense — a rose you can feel more than smell lightly.
Oud and amber lead the base, dry and smoky rather than sweet, with patchouli adding an earthy bitterness that keeps the vanilla and benzoin from turning into dessert. Labdanum's honeyed-almond quality lingers longest — this is the part of Ardent that actually earns the name.

Christian Provenzano is the perfumer behind several of Boadicea the Victorious's richest compositions, and Ardent shows the same instinct at work: rose carried through every stage of the fragrance, but never allowed to settle into something merely pleasant. Beeswax and oud do the real work of keeping it heavy and a little smoky.
