A NOCTURNAL ROSE–OUD EXTRAIT SHAPED THROUGH SPICE, BALSAMS AND SOFT SWEETNESS

Dark material, illuminated from within.

Violet, geranium, cinnamon and cardamom open OUD satin mood Extrait before Damask and Turkish roses take centre stage. Oud, vanilla, amber, benzoin, caramel, musk and cedar create a rich, enveloping drydown.

Rose becomes the fabric; oud becomes the shadow moving underneath it.

BEFORE YOU SAMPLE

It may not be for you if…

Performance and perception vary by skin, climate, application and formulation. Sample before buying whenever possible.

THREE MOMENTS, ONE EVOLVING SCENT

See how the fragrance changes.

Atmospheric interpretation of violet and geranium meet ceylon cinnamon and cardamom.
00:00 — THE SPICED VIOLET

Violet and geranium meet Ceylon cinnamon and cardamom.

The opening balances powder and lift with dry warmth. Violet creates a soft cosmetic haze, geranium adds a green rosy edge, Ceylon cinnamon brings refined bark-like heat, and cardamom contributes a cooler aromatic brightness. The contrast makes the first minutes feel both plush and clearly defined.

VIOLETSPICEDAROMATIC
Atmospheric interpretation of damask and turkish roses form a dense satin heart.
00:45 — THE ROSE SATIN

Damask and Turkish roses form a dense satin heart.

The middle moves into an expansive double-rose accord. Damask rose feels honeyed, spicy and deeply perfumed, while Turkish rose adds a velvety, fruity and almost jam-like fullness. Together they create the broad floral fabric that defines the fragrance.

ROSYVELVETYOPULENT
Atmospheric interpretation of oud, vanilla and resins settle over musk and cedar.
03:30 — THE BALSAMIC SHADOW

Oud, vanilla and resins settle over musk and cedar.

The base expands in layers rather than collapsing into a single amber accord. Agarwood provides dark resinous wood; vanilla, benzoin and caramel add rounded sweetness; amber supplies warmth; musk softens the edges; and cedar leaves a dry structural trace. The floral heart remains perceptible, but the lasting impression is balsamic, woody and enveloping.

THE PERFUMER BEHIND OUD SATIN MOOD EXTRAIT

Rose and oud held in exact proportion.

Francis Kurkdjian often gives familiar materials unusually clear architecture. Here, the opening spices frame rather than obscure the violet and geranium; Damask and Turkish roses remain distinctly floral at the centre; and the base unfolds through oud, vanilla, amber, benzoin, caramel, musk and cedar. The extrait format concentrates these contrasts into a composition whose richness comes from proportion, texture and persistence rather than from one dominant note.

A French composition in which rose gives oud a softer, more luminous contour.
