SECTION 01 · PORTRAIT
This is the second chapter of Nishane's Rumi Collection, a decade after the first. The opening is tart and almost sour — lychee, raspberry, saffron — before Turkish rose settles in, thick and a little severe, backed by blackcurrant instead of anything soft. It reads more like a rose garden after rain than a bouquet.
The fruit isn't a garnish on the rose here — it argues with it before rose finally wins.

THREE MOMENTS, ONE EVOLVING SCENT
Lychee and raspberry arrive bright and a little sour, closer to biting into underripe fruit than a soft fruity accord. Saffron and cardamom add a dry, metallic spice that keeps things sharp rather than sweet — there's no rose here yet, just tension.
Rose doesn't ease in — it's already thick and velvety by the time you notice it, closer to crushed petals than perfume-counter rose. Mimosa adds a powdery softness, but blackcurrant keeps pulling it back toward something darker and a little tart, so the rose never fully relaxes.
Patchouli brings an earthy, slightly bitter depth while amberwood and aetoxylon — a dense, agarwood-adjacent material — wrap the whole thing in something dark and resinous. The tension from the opening is gone by now; what's left is quiet, woody and long-lasting, the version of the rose that stays.

JULIEN RASQUINET MAKES THE ROSE WAIT
Julien Rasquinet is credited as the perfumer behind Thorns Become Roses, Nishane's second chapter in its Rumi Collection. Rather than open on rose, he holds it back behind a tart, almost metallic fruit-and-spice accord, so that when Turkish rose finally arrives it reads as something won rather than given.
The fruit and spice aren't there to introduce the rose gently — they're there to make you wait for it.

It reminds me a lot of Montale’s classic oud-rose style, so it’s not very original, but still smells great. I’d pick Aoud Queen Roses—it’s cheaper, more unique and has a much more mysterious vibe..
