THREE MOMENTS, ONE EVOLVING SCENT
The opening feels dark red rather than fresh. Fruit is present, but it reads more like colour and texture than sweetness. Clove gives a dry, peppered warmth that immediately makes the perfume feel formal.
This is where Portrait of a Lady becomes unmistakable. The rose is lush, but not romantic in a pastel way. It feels dense, crimson and upholstered, with patchouli lending depth rather than obvious earthiness.
The late stages are not airy or skin-clean. They stay textured and serious, with incense smoke, woody warmth and a residue of dark rose. It is this base that gives the perfume its authority.
