SECTION 01 · PORTRAIT

The house's first formulation, built on a moss from the New South Wales coast.

Pacific Rock Moss was the first fragrance Goldfield & Banks ever made, and it set the house's method: an Australian native material at the centre, with the region named on the bottle. Australian coastal moss from the South Coast of New South Wales anchors it, lifted by Italian lemon and French sage. At roughly 20% concentration, it stays bright rather than heavy.

“Seize the day and experience a moment of pure bliss with this aquatic and fresh perfume.”

THREE MOMENTS, ONE EVOLVING SCENT

See how the fragrance changes.

Atmospheric interpretation of lemon first, then something distinctly of the shoreline.
SUNRISE — LEMON AND COASTAL MOSS

Lemon first, then something distinctly of the shoreline.

The brand labels its stages sunrise, summit and sunset rather than top, heart and base — and the sunrise here is Italian lemon arriving sharp and clean, with the Australian coastal moss accord underneath almost immediately. That moss note reads salty and mineral, closer to sea spray on wet rock than to a conventional oakmoss.

CITRUSMARINEMINERAL
Atmospheric interpretation of herbal and green, keeping the citrus from thinning out.
SUMMIT — SAGE AND GERANIUM

Herbal and green, keeping the citrus from thinning out.

French sage brings a dry, slightly camphorous herbal quality, while Egyptian geranium adds a green-rosy edge that stops the composition from reading purely as a citrus-marine freshie. This is the part that gives it an aromatic backbone rather than leaving it a simple summer cologne.

HERBALGREENROSY
Atmospheric interpretation of a dry woody close, deliberately restrained.
SUNSET — CEDAR AND WHITE MUSK

A dry woody close, deliberately restrained.

Virginia cedarwood and white musk form the base — the brand says they exist to add depth and longevity rather than to take over. It's a quiet finish by design, and also the fragrance's most debated stage: pleasant but unremarkable to some, with the drydown reading more ozonic-synthetic than actually mossy.

The perfumers behind the portrait

Goldfield & Banks credits Pacific Rock Moss to François Merle-Baudoin and Carine Certain Boin, working under founder and creative director Dimitri Weber. The attribution is worth noting: Fragrantica instead pairs Merle-Baudoin with Hamid Merati-Kashani, and the two sources genuinely disagree. Parffolio follows the brand's own credit here.

“Creative Director: Dimitri Weber. Perfumers: François Merle-Baudoin & Carine Certain Boin.”
