Released in 2011 as part of Bois 1920's I Trasparenti collection, Oltremare opens on vivid green lemon and bergamot before handing the heart over to mate leaves, red tea and rhubarb, brightened by geranium, violet and Dutch hyacinth. Sandalwood, ambergris and patchouli settle it into something quiet and woody by the end.

THREE MOMENTS, ONE EVOLVING SCENT
Green lemon and Sicilian lemon lead, sharp and true to the actual fruit, with bergamot and sweet orange rounding the edges. Bigarade — bitter orange — keeps it from turning soft. There's no ozonic "sea air" trick here, just vivid, slightly bitter citrus.
Instead of drying into musk, the heart turns toward mate leaves and red tea, genuinely unusual notes for a fragrance built this brightly. Rhubarb keeps it tart rather than sweet, while geranium, violet and Dutch hyacinth add a cool, slightly green floral undertone. Juniper berries sit underneath, faintly resinous.
By the time the base settles in, the citrus and tea have mostly faded and what's left is understated: sandalwood for warmth, ambergris for a faint salt-adjacent depth, patchouli and white musk keeping it dry rather than sweet. It's the part of the fragrance that lasts, even if it's the part people talk about least.
