NO OFFICIAL STAGING — THREE THEMATIC FACETS
Melon and tropical fruit read as real sweetness, not a fleeting citrus-adjacent brightness — closer to bubblegum or a fruit-flavored candle than fresh-cut fruit. Caramel deepens it further. On its own this could be a straightforward gourmand, which makes what sits right next to it more disorienting.
This is where Fantomas stops behaving like any conventional fragrance. Plastic and rubber read as synthetic on purpose, smoke and gunpowder add a scorched, mineral edge, and none of it is softened by sitting in a separate stage — it's layered directly against the fruit above.
Underneath both the sweetness and the synthetic edge, cashmeran runs at what smells like a genuinely high dose — velvety, musky and a little dusty, it's widely credited as the actual backbone of the fragrance. Patchouli adds earthy weight. This is less a finishing stage than the thread tying the other two together throughout.
NO STAGED DRYDOWN — HOW IT ACTUALLY WEARS
The candied fruit and the synthetic materials are both present from the first minute — this isn't a fragrance that opens on one side and reveals the other later.

Named for a French pulp-fiction criminal known for constantly changing his appearance, the fragrance is built to feel similarly unstable rather than resolved.
